Searching Greene County Court Records
The most common questions are about how and where to run a Greene County court records search. The official tool is statewide and free.
How do I search Greene County court records online? Use Missouri Case.net, the official Missouri Judiciary case search portal. You can search by litigant name, filing date, case number, or scheduled hearing. Choose the 31st Judicial Circuit for Greene County where the interface allows. Case.net is free, but it is not a certified record. See the Greene County Court Records page for a full walkthrough.
What court serves Greene County? Greene County is the 31st Judicial Circuit of Missouri. It has circuit, associate, family, treatment, probate, traffic, and municipal divisions. Missouri uses circuit courts, not district courts, as its main trial court. The Greene County Circuit Court page lists every division and judge.
Why can I find the case but not the document? Case.net shows public case information, but document access depends on the filing date, case type, and security level. Missouri expanded remote access to public documents filed on or after July 1, 2023. Older paper documents are available only at the clerk's office or a courthouse terminal.

Greene County Jail and Inmate Questions
Questions about the jail roster, bond, and release timing are some of the most frequent. The Sheriff's Office runs the jail.
How do I find an inmate in the Greene County Jail? Start at the official JailTracker roster. The county disclaimer says the roster shows people in custody at the time of the search and that data changes quickly. The Greene County Inmate Records page covers the roster and search fields.
Does an arrest on the roster mean conviction? No. The official disclaimer says an arrest does not mean conviction and the data should not be relied on for legal action. Check Case.net for charges, disposition, and sentence. See Greene County Arrest Records for the difference.
How long does release take after bond? Cash-only or surety release paperwork can take 2 to 4 hours. Releases do not happen during officer shift changes or inmate meal times. The Released Inmates page covers release tracking and alerts.
How many free jail visits are allowed? Each inmate gets three free 25-minute personal video visits per week. Two are in the jail lobby and one can be remote.
Marriage, Divorce, and Probate Questions
These records are split across the Recorder and the Circuit Clerk, which causes most of the confusion.
Where do I get a marriage license? At the Greene County Recorder of Deeds, 940 N. Boonville Avenue, Room 102, Springfield. Both parties must appear in person with ID and a Social Security number. The license fee is $51. See the Recorder page for the full process.
Is there a waiting period for marriage licenses? No. Missouri eliminated the three-day waiting period, so a couple marrying within 30 days can take the license the same day. The license is valid for 30 days statewide.
Where do I get divorce records? Divorce cases are domestic cases in Greene County Circuit Court. Search Case.net first, then request certified copies from the Circuit Clerk. The Marriage & Divorce Records page explains both steps.
Where do I find probate records? Current probate matters are in the Probate Division of the Circuit Court and may be on Case.net. Older files from 1833 to 1990 are at Greene County Archives. See the Probate Records page.
Traffic Ticket and Driver Record Questions
Traffic questions usually involve paying a ticket, finding a citation, or understanding the difference between a court record and a driver record.
What does Plead and Pay mean? Plead and Pay lets a person plead guilty and pay certain traffic tickets online without coming to court. It is not available for every citation. To plead not guilty, you must appear at the court on the ticket. The Traffic Court Records page has details.
What if my traffic ticket is not on Case.net? The ticket may not be filed yet, or the municipal division may not use Show-Me Courts. Use the court listed on the ticket, which in Greene County may be the Associate division or a municipal court like Springfield, Republic, or Willard.
Is a traffic court record the same as my driver record? No. The court record is the case file for the citation. A Missouri driver record is kept by the Department of Revenue and reflects driving-history consequences. The Traffic Court Records page compares the two.
Warrants, Expungement, and Public Records
These questions cover active warrants, sealing a record, and Sunshine Law requests.
How do I check for warrants in Greene County? Use official sources only: Case.net, court notices, and the Greene County Sheriff's Warrants Division, which is staffed 24 hours. The Warrant Records page explains the safest way to check.
Can I expunge a Greene County criminal record? Possibly, if the offense qualifies under Missouri statutes such as RSMo 610.122 or 610.140. Eligibility depends on offense type, waiting periods, criminal history, and restitution. File in the court where the case occurred.
How do I request a sheriff incident report? Use the Sheriff's Sunshine request process. Include the report number, occurrence address, involved names, and purpose. Reports are redacted under RSMo 610. The Public Records page covers Sunshine Law requests.
Will Pretrial Services call demanding money for release? No. A 2026 county press release warned of scammers posing as deputies or Pretrial staff. The Sheriff's Office and Pretrial Services will never call to demand payment over the phone for a release.
Federal Court Questions for Greene County
Some Greene County cases are federal, not state. Federal records use a different system entirely.

The PACER portal requires registration and charges per page for many searches. Federal appeals go to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
